Gasthuiskerk (Zierikzee)
The Kleine of Gasthuiskerk ( German small or hospital church ) is a reformed parish church of Zierikzee (municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland , province of Zeeland in the Netherlands ), which is essentially late Gothic .
history
The Gasthuiskerk was originally built in the 15th century as a chapel for the St. Elisabeth Hospital founded in the 14th century . After the Reformation in the city, the chapel was handed over to the Reformed Walloon community in 1587. In 1613, however, it was already taken over by the city's growing Reformed community, which enlarged it in 1651 by adding a gallery above the stock exchange on the south side. The nave and gallery are vaulted with wooden barrel vaults, the pulpit and stalls date from the middle of the 17th century. Restorations took place between 1950 and 1958 and 1993. The church has no façade. There are extensions to the community rooms to the north, the stock exchange to the south. Today the church belongs to a Reformed congregation within the United Dutch Protestant Church .
organ
The organ of the Gasthuiskerk was built in 1964 by the organ building company Marcussen & Son (Appenrade, Denmark). The instrument has 19 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
