Gastone Garziera
Gastone Garziera (born April 13, 1942 in Sandrigo ) is an Italian computer scientist.
Life
Garziera attended the technical college Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale A. Rossi in Sandrigo until 1961 . At the age of 19, Garziera was hired by Olivetti , where, in a team led by Pier Giorgio Perotto , he was involved in the development of the Olivetti Programma 101 , the world's first freely programmable desktop computer . He later worked on subsequent models of the P101 before retiring in 1996.
In 2015, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the development of the P101 with Giovanni De Sandre and Massimo Banzi, he was received by the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi .
Today he is dedicated to the preservation and recovery of old models from his former employer Olivetti.
