General

The Von Rephuns Garten restaurant is located at Rephunstrasse 2 in Zerbst and borders the Rephuns Garten park to the north . It owes its castle-like design to the previous building, on which it is based in terms of design. The building shapes the street scene. It was placed under monument protection in 2017.

history

The restaurant was built in 1895 on the site where the residential and commercial buildings of the former owner, chief forestry master Ernst Wilhelm Gottlob von Rephun , were previously located. Rephun died in 1816 and in his will of 1811 it was regulated that he bequeathed all of his property to the city of Zerbst. When the building was rebuilt, the previous building was taken as a model. The building was redesigned in 1935.

The restaurant is closely connected to the adjoining city park. This is evident from the fact that the main axis of the city park is aligned in a straight line with the restaurant. The building itself is a two-story plastered building with a corner tower . There is a large hall on the upper floor.
