Area Agriculture Committee

The Regional Agricultural Committee (GAA) is a body at the district level that only exists in this form in Hesse , which was created in 1970 after the abolition of the Chamber of Agriculture for cooperation between administration and representatives of the agricultural profession. The legal basis is the Occupational Participation Act. The GAA is made up of various representatives of agricultural and horticultural organizations: In addition to the district farmers' associations, the associations of agricultural technical school graduates, the rural youth, the rural women’s association, the trade union for construction, agriculture, the environment , the Hessian gardening association and the association of organic farming send members to the committee and as far as there is viticulture in the region , also the winegrowers' association. The GAA participates in questions of vocational training, in particular the recognition of training companies, agricultural subsidies, area-related planning and the like. Ä. The local agricultural administration is responsible for carrying out the recruitment process and running the business. The chairman of the GAA elected by the delegated members is also a district farmer .
