Meili brothers

The brothers Martin Meili (doctor, * 1952), Marcel Meili , (architect, co-owner of the office Meili, Peter & Partner AG , * 1953; † March 18, 2019), and Daniel Meili (psychiatrist, * 1956) founded the company in 2006 the Datuma company, a novel model for supporting socio-cultural projects.

Life

The three brothers were born and raised in Küsnacht, today all three live in Zurich's districts 4 and 5.

Martin Meili is a general practitioner with his own practice in Zurich.

Daniel Meili is the former chief physician at ARUD Zurich (working group for the low-risk use of drugs). He was instrumental in setting up the heroin delivery and methadone programs.

Marcel Meili was an architect and co-owner of the Meili, Peter & Partner AG office . Meili was u. a. Lecturer at the Zurich Higher School of Design and two guest lecturers at Harvard University . From 1999 he was Professor of Architecture at the ETH Studio Basel .

Her father, Ernst Meili , invented the automatic fire alarm in 1941 and made great fortunes with his company Cerberus. The Datea company of the Meili brothers emerged from this inheritance.

Datuma, AG for projects

Datuma is a joint stock company for projects (Datwoma AG). The company is a unique example of building cultural and social projects in Switzerland by granting advice, loans and investments on flexible terms, with the minimum goal of profitability. Datuma is interested in projects in the fields of energy, water & resources, health and culture.

Some of the projects supported caused a sensation nationwide by addressing socially relevant issues such as Agent-Provocateur, a campaign for video clips. The Scheidegger & Spiess , Park Books, Riff Raff, Bourbaki, Houdini and Cinema Sil Plaz cinemas supported by Datuma have a lasting impact on the Swiss cultural landscape.

The Meili brothers supported the inheritance tax initiative's pro campaign and the Libero operation .
