Baseltor Cooperative

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Baseltor cooperative is one of the oldest gastronomic cooperatives in Switzerland and operates several restaurants and hotels with a total of 110 employees in Solothurn , including the historic Hotel Krone and La Couronne. All businesses are located in the city's historic buildings, including the Hotel-Restaurant Baseltor (former "Chez Derron" restaurant in the canon house), the Salzhaus restaurant (former Bregger warehouse and salt store), Solheure restaurant and bar (former slaughterhouse on the Aare ) .

The Baseltor cooperative emerged in 1978 from a spin-off from the Kreuz cooperative with the artist Schang Hutter as its first president. The cooperative opened the Löwen restaurant in Solothurn in 1978. At this time, in the aftermath of the 1968 era, common forms of life and work were sought in Switzerland and cooperative bars were founded throughout German-speaking Switzerland. The board of the cooperative currently consists of Stefan Batzli (president), Pia Camponovo, Gabi Hladikova, Franz Herger, Andreas Richard, Stephanie Selig and Martin Volkart (delegate).
