Memorial stone (Höhenkirchen)

Marian column in Höhenkirchen

The memorial stone on today's State Road 2078 in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn is a foundation of Prince Heinrich of Bavaria . He had the memorial column, consecrated on October 18, 1911, erected after surviving a car accident unharmed.

Heinrich was on his way back from the 125th anniversary of the Aying Veteran and Warrior Association on the late afternoon of June 5, 1911 , when his driver strayed off the then unpaved road near Höhenkirchen while overtaking. The vehicle crashed into a power pole that had recently been erected for Aying's newly created electricity supply, and the radiator and axle were damaged. The power supply in Aying was also interrupted for several hours due to damage to the mast.

The approximately two meter high memorial stone bears the inscription “Great God, we praise you” and is listed as a monument with the number D-1-84-127-1 in the Bavarian list of monuments. The clay relief "Madonna with the Child" was newly created in 1983, in a niche in the base stands Saint Christopher (as the patron saint of travelers). He was moved from the original accident site in 1983 by the road construction administration and is now west of the state road on the edge of the forest between Höhenkirchen and Aying.
