The prisoner tower

The 20 meter high prisoner tower in the Hessian Taunusdorf Niederbruch is a tower of the former medieval city wall, which was built from 1367 to 1379 . He is one of the landmarks of the place.

description

The tower, which ends with an arched frieze and crenellated crown, is almost 20 meters high and has been plastered on the outside since 2004 as part of a renovation measure. The tower probably originally had a wooden roof, which, however, was not reconstructed. Two sections of the wall adjoin the tower. These have large blind arches on the inside and have a battlement. The Langhecker Tor , which no longer exists, was attached to the tower . This was torn down in 1852. Today it is recreated by a rose-covered metal frame.
