Norbert Gehart

Norbert Gehart (born March 20, 1960 in Korneuburg ) is an Austrian officer in the Federal Army , currently Lieutenant General . Since July 3, 2013 he has been Head of Section III (Provision) in the Federal Ministry for National Defense and Sport .

Life

After graduating from high school and officer's training at the Theresian Military Academy , Norbert Gehart was deployed in various commanding functions in Vienna and Stockerau, and gained international experience on a UN mission in Syria and Kosovo.

After completing his general staff training at the National Defense Academy from 1991 to 1994, he was employed in various logistics positions in the Federal Ministry for National Defense and Sport and at corps level. He also attended the General Staff Course of the Italian Armed Forces.

From 2002 to 2006 he was chief of staff in the operational support command, in 2007 he became head of the quartermaster department and in 2009 he became brigadier head of the logistics group in the Federal Ministry.

Minister Gerald Klug appointed him to succeed Lieutenant General Freyo Apfalter on July 3, 2013 as Head of Section III (Provision) in the Federal Ministry for National Defense and Sport and promoted him to Lieutenant General.

Others

Norbert Gehart completed the university course in hospital management. He is married and has one child.
