Gerald Rudolf Klug (born November 13, 1968 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and trade union official . From 2005 to 2013 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council , from 2008 deputy club chairman of the Social Democratic parliamentary group and since March 11, 2013 a member of the Austrian federal government. Initially active as Defense and Sports Minister, Klug switched to the Infrastructure and Transport Ministry on January 26, 2016, which he headed until May 18, 2016.

Klug attended elementary school in Stainz between 1975 and 1979 and continued his education at the local secondary school between 1979 and 1983. Klug has been a member of the PRO-GE union since 1990 and a member of the Chamber of Labor and Employees for Styria since 2005 . Between 2000 and 2005 he was a member of the board of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Styria and is a substitute member of the general assembly of the Federal Chamber of Labor for workers and salaried employees.
