criticism

As an “intellectual with a worldview that was mostly to the left of the SPÖ mainstream”, and because of his socio-politically liberal stance, Eine was repeatedly attacked after joining the federal government as Minister of the Interior, in particular from the FPÖ, then under Jörg Haider , and the Austrian boulevard . In 1995 he was accused of having donated 4900 schillings to the left-wing radical magazine TATblatt in 1992 and 1000 schillings in March 1995 (now as State Secretary). The first donation was for a printing press , the second to support the magazine in a lawsuit against Haider. When it became known that the magazine had received the national press subsidy since 1991, it was also clear that the donation was legal. One was also accused of a conversation with Gregor Thaler , the later alleged assassin of Ebergassing, filmed at a street festival in 1988 .
