Rudolf Streicher
Rudolf Streicher (born January 19, 1939 in Wallsee ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) who currently works as a manager . He is also President of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra .
Earlier career
Rudolf Streicher completed an apprenticeship at VOEST in Linz . Then he studied at the Montan University Leoben . In addition, he also continued his musical education.
Political career
In 1986 Streicher became Federal Minister for Public Economics and Transport . In the 1992 federal presidential election he achieved 43.1% in the runoff election against Thomas Klestil and was thus clearly defeated, although he was still ahead in the first ballot.
Economic career
From 1974 to 1980 Rudolf Streicher was a member of the board of the Vereinigte Metallwerke Ranshofen Berndorf AG. From 1981 to 1986 he was General Director and CEO of Austria Metall AG .
From 1992 until the company was sold to Frank Stronach in 1998, he was General Director of Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG . From 1999 to 2001 Streicher was CEO of Österreichische Industrieholding AG (ÖIAG).
Between 2001 and 2012, Streicher held a 50% share in Steyr Motors GmbH , the successor to the engine division of Steyr-Daimler-Puch. He sold his shares to a group of Chinese investors.
Streicher has been a member of the Superfund Hedge Fund Supervisory Board since June 2007 .
From 2009 to 2011, Streicher worked in an advisory capacity on the six-member expert council at the Money Service Group , but left when the company's founder, Michael Seidl, was arrested. According to Streicher, this activity did not involve any organ function, responsibility or money.

From 1997 to October 1999, Streicher was president of the soccer club FK Austria Wien .
