Walter Geppert
Walter Geppert (born May 31, 1939 in Vienna ) is a retired Austrian lawyer and politician ( SPÖ ).
Life
After an apprenticeship as a lathe operator and toolmaker , Walter Geppert attended the social academy of the Vienna Chamber of Labor . From 1962 he worked in the Vienna Chamber of Labor. He also studied law at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in 1979 .
From 1985 to 1991 he was deputy general director in the main association of Austrian social insurance institutions . From 1989 to 1990 he held the office of Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs.
From 1991 to 2001 he was Director General of the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions, and from 1992 a member of the Board of Directors of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
Awards
- 2002: Gold Medal of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna
- 2004: Great Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria
