The International Social Security Association (ISSA) is a global forum, the support of the Social Security .

The ISSA is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1927. Members of the ISSA are national institutions in the field of social security. As of 2012, 340 institutions from 158 countries are members of the ISSA. Together they pursue the goal of promoting and expanding social security, in particular occupational health and safety, worldwide. The ISSA is based in Geneva and is headed by a Directorate General.

Electricity, gas and water

The electricity, gas and water section was founded in 1971 and is based at the trade association for energy, textile and electrical media products (BG ETEM) in Cologne. The section is based on the collaboration of more than 40 members from over 20 countries.

tasks

Its task is the worldwide promotion of occupational health and safety in the area of ​​the generation and distribution of electricity as well as in the use of electricity and gas in the commercial sector. The section promotes the international exchange of experience among experts with symposia, workshops, international working groups and training measures on current issues in the field of occupational health and safety in this economic sector. Central challenges are technical, organizational, medical-biological and psychological questions of occupational safety such as B. Protection against the dangers of electrical current, protection when working on public electricity, gas, water and district heating systems, first aid measures after electrical accidents, training and further education in occupational health and safety, safety management, human Behavior, biological effects of electromagnetic fields.

Another focus of the work of the Electricity Section is the organization of the International Media Festival for Prevention , which takes place every three years as part of the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.
