Ferdinand Lacina
Ferdinand Lacina (born December 31, 1942 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).
Life
Lacina, whose parents came from the Viennese Czech minority , got involved early on on the side of the socialists and acted, for example, as a student functionary of the VSStÖ . Lacina's lecture transcript, which recorded the anti-Semitic lapses of Professor Taras Borodajkewycz , played an essential role in the political affair in question. During his studies at the University of World Trade ( graduation in 1965, Dipl.-Kfm ), Lacina joined the Vienna Chamber of Labor in 1964 , where he and Oskar Grünwald wrote a large study on the subject of foreign capital in the Austrian economy (Europaverlag Vienna 1970 ). In 1973 Lacina succeeded Eduard März as head of the economics department of the Vienna AK.
From 1980 he was head of cabinet of long-time Austrian Chancellor Bruno Kreisky . From 1982 to 1984 he was State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery a. a. responsible for economic issues. From 1984 to 1986 Lacina was Federal Minister for Transport and during this time was mainly confronted with the crisis of the nationalized industry and, from November 1985, especially with the intertrading scandal . From this point on, Lacina made a name for himself as an advocate of the depoliticization and at least partial privatization of this economic sector. From 1986 to 1995 Lacina was Federal Minister of Finance and thus one of the longest serving finance ministers in Austria.
After retiring from active day-to-day politics, he was General Director of the Austrian GiroCredit Bank AG der Sparkassen until 1997 . In the 2007/08 winter semester, Lacina acted as a visiting professor at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Innsbruck as part of the “Politician in Residence” program.
His son Robert works as a journalist and musician under the stage name Robert Rotifer . Lacina is married to the SPÖ politician Gertraud Knoll .
