Gerulf Murer

Gerulf Murer (born August 19, 1941 in Gaishorn am See ) is an Austrian farmer and former politician ( FPÖ ). Murer was a member of the Austrian National Council and State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Gerulf Murer is the son of Franz Murer, known as the “butcher of Vilnius ”, and after completing compulsory school he completed two semesters at an agricultural school. In addition, Murer attended three semesters of the higher agricultural school of the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry in Hessen-Nassau and completed his training with the degree of engineer agr . Between 1966 and 1968, Murer took on administrative and assistant jobs on a farm in South West Africa and was then a farmer on his parents' farm. In 1995 he was appointed economics councilor.

politics

From 1980 to 1983 and from 1990 to 1995 Murer was a member of the municipal council of the market town of Gaishorn and held the function of regional party chairman of the FPÖ Styria. He was also district party chairman of the FPÖ Liezen and country chairman of the FPÖ Styria. Between 1979 and 1983 he was federal peasant chairman of the FPÖ and between 1978 and 1986 member of the board of the Leoben dairy farm.

Murer represented the FPÖ from June 5, 1979 to May 18, 1983 in the National Council. He was then State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry until January 21, 1987 and again a member of the National Council from December 17, 1986 to January 14, 1996.

father

Gerulf Murer's father Franz Murer was an Austrian war criminal. He was known as the "Butcher of Vilnius" and was sentenced to 25 years of forced labor in Vilnius in 1948 . In 1955 he was transferred to Austria, but immediately released there. In the later Austrian retrial in 1962/63, his sons are said to have mocked Jewish victims and witnesses, Franz Murer was acquitted in the first instance, and the investigation finally stopped in 1974. Gerulf Murer announced in 1989 that neutral historians from Germany would prove his father's innocence with a book they had written. This book has not yet been published.
