Günter Haiden

Günter Haiden (born June 21, 1926 in Wald am Arlberg ; † August 30, 2004 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician of the SPÖ .

Life

Haiden joined the NSDAP in 1944 . After graduating from high school in 1947, Günter Haiden studied from 1947 to 1952 at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences ( Dipl.-Ing. ). During this time he was a functionary of the Association of Socialist Students (1946-1956).

From 1956 to 1962 he was employed as a forest engineer and saw manager of the Aflenz forest estate , from 1962 to 1972 as the central secretary of the union of workers in agriculture and forestry, from 1972 to 1974 as commercial director of the Austrian Federal Forests .

Haiden was deputy district chairman of Vienna / Währing 1964–1974, from 1975 to 1983 a member of the National Council , from 1974 to 1976 State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and from 1976 to 1986 Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.

He was buried in the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall (Section 1, Ring 2, Group 6, No. 9).
