Franziska Fast

Franziska Fast (born May 18, 1925 in Vienna - Ottakring ; † October 19, 2003 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), metal worker and ombudsman . Almost was a member of the National Council in 1983 .

Life

Franziska "Franzi" Almost one of four children of a construction worker, attended compulsory school and then took on activities as an unskilled worker. She then trained as an enameller at Austria-Email-EHT AG and from 1959 to 1960 attended the social academy of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna.

In addition to her job, Fast was also a works council member and chairwoman of the works council at Austria-Email-EHT AG. In addition, she was union secretary of the metal-mining-energy union and chamber councilor of the chamber for workers and salaried employees for Vienna and chairwoman of the women in the parliamentary group of socialist unionists in the ÖGB . In addition, she held the position of deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of socialist trade unionists in ÖGB Vienna, was chairwoman of the women and deputy chairwoman of the metal-mining-energy union and chairwoman of the people's aid organization in Vienna- Ottakring . Within the party, she was active as a member of the board of the SPÖ-Ottakring and also held the office of deputy chairwoman of the women of the SPÖ-Ottakring.

Almost represented the SPÖ between 1973 and 1979 in the Vienna state parliament and local council, from November 5, 1979 to May 24, 1983, under Federal Chancellor Bruno Kreisky, it was State Secretary for Women's Issues in the Federal Ministry of Social Administration . From June 1, 1983 to June 30, 1983 she was almost a member of the National Council and then took over the post of Ombudsman from July 1, 1983 to June 30, 1989. Until shortly before her death, she was also president of Volkshilfe Wien, her successor in this position was Johann Hatzl .

Franziska Fast is buried in the Matzleinsdorf Evangelical Cemetery . In 2005 the Franziska-Fast-Gasse in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after her.
