Ludwig Strobl

Ludwig Strobl (born January 22, 1900 in Siebenhirten ; † July 9, 1974 in Vienna ) was an Austrian cooperative member , civil servant and politician ( VF / ÖVP ). During the Austro-fascist dictatorship he was Minister of Agriculture and Forestry under Kurt Schuschnigg .

Life

Ludwig Strobl studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. He was an original member of the Catholic student union K.Ö.HV Franco Bavaria Vienna (since 1933 in the ÖCV ). Since 1931 he worked in the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture. Ludwig Strobl was the father of a daughter named Margarete and a son named Thomas-Michael.

Strobl was Federal Minister for Agriculture and Forestry in Kurt Schuschnigg's cabinet from October 17, 1935 to May 14, 1936. From January 1936 to February 1939, he was executive president of the major purchasing company of Austrian consumer associations, GöC . From 1937 to 1969 he was a functionary in the International Union of Cooperatives (IGB). From November 1940 to February 1945 he was managing director of the Großeinkaufs-Gesellschaft Deutscher Consumvereine (GEG) in Hamburg . In the Second Republic, Dr. Karl Renner returns to the top of the GöC. At the end of 1949 he switched to the Association of Rural Cooperatives in Lower Austria as General Director , from 1967 to 1970 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Genossenschaftliche Zentralbank AG and from 1962 to 1967 he was also Vice President of the National Bank.

In 1949 he was a founding member of the Lower Austrian State Hunting Association (NÖ LJV) together with Leopold Figl and Bruno Marek .
