Johnny Foreigner is a four-piece indie rock band from Birmingham , England, founded in 2005 . They are currently with the British label Alcopop! Records under contract.
history
Before founding the band, Alexei Berrow played in the band Panda Love Unit and Kelly Southern played in Twist. The first Johnny Foreigner formation consisted of Berrow, Laidley and Daniel Boyle and, according to their own statement, was a "country band with high standards". Boyle left the band to attend university and is currently playing in the Gentle Friendly group. Before leaving the band, they released WeLeftYouSleepingAndGoneNow in 2005 , their first self-produced album with an edition of 40 pieces, which includes 11 tracks.
Johnny Foreigner's first single Sometimes in the Bullring / Camp Kelly Calm was recorded by the Laundrette Recording Company and released in October 2006 (300 copies). The second single was a split single with Sunset Cinema Club and includes the song Yes! You Talk Too Fast and a cover of Sunset Cinema Club's Track Ninki. vs Dingle , who in turn covered Johnny Foreigners Candles .
After moving to Best Before Records in 2007, Johnny Foreigner released the EP Arcs Across the City on November 26th of the same year. The EP received the top rating of 10/10 from the well-known British online music magazine Drowned in Sound . The third single Our Bipolar Friends / The Houseparty Scene Is Killing You was released on March 10, 2008 and was almost completely sold out with 1,000 copies shortly before it was released.
In July 2007, 15 demo songs under the name I Like You Mostly Late at Never were offered for free download on the official website.
Eyes Wide Terrified is the first single from Waited Up 'Til It Was Light and was released on May 18, 2008. Lea Room / DJ's Get Doubts was released on January 12, 2009.
The album Waited Up 'Til It Was Light was released on June 2, 2008 and recorded in Hoboken, New Jersey . The Nettwerk label is responsible for North American sales .
On March 30, 2009, Berrow announced during an appearance as the opening act for Hundred Reasons, their next studio album, which was released under the title Grace and the Bigger Picture on October 26.
The previously unreleased track With Who, Who and What I've Got has been available for free download from the official website since May 30th.
Johnny Foreigner are working on their fourth album from late 2010 to July 2011 and in October 2010 they went with Los Campesinos! on a North American tour. An EP called You Thought You Saw a Shooting Star but Yr Eyes Were Blurred With Tears and That Lighthouse Can Be Pretty Deceiving With the Sky So Clear and Sea So Calm was released in November and contains six new songs. They also left Best Before Records and are now with the independent label Alcopop! Records under contract. The EP Certain Songs Are Cursed was released on April 18th.
The album Johnny Foreigner vs. Everything was released on November 7, 2011.
In April 2012, Lewes Herriot joined the band as an additional guitarist. He was previously responsible for the graphic design of the albums and merchandise.
The album You Can Do Better followed two years later . Her current album Mono No Aware was released in July 2016.
