Mathias Reichhold

Mathias Reichhold (born July 5, 1957 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia ) is an Austrian politician of the FPÖ and former Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology from February 2002 to February 2003.

Life

Mathias Reichhold attended the Federal College for Agricultural Engineering in Wieselburg from 1971 to 1976 . The federal seminar for agricultural education followed with the teaching examination . From 1981 to 1985 he taught agriculture at the school office and administrative Sankt Georgen am Längsee , in their community, he mainly since 1985 as a sideline a 80 hectares large organic farm leads. Mathias Reichhold's rural origins also brought him to politics. From 1979 to 1981 he was rural youth officer at the Chamber of Agriculture for Carinthia. He resigned from this position in 1990 when he moved to the National Council for the FPÖ .

In 1992, Reichhold on the initiative was Haider Governor -Stellvertreter of Carinthia. He held this office until 1994 when Jörg Haider asked him to clear the seat for Karl-Heinz Grasser . He then went back to the National Council until 1998 and as Vice President of the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture, then returned in 1998 - after the resignation of Karl-Heinz Grasser - as Deputy Governor in the provincial government. In between he was also a member of the European Parliament in 1995 . During his time as Deputy Governor (1998–2001) he was a. a. State sports advisor.

In 2001 he again left the Carinthian state government at his own request to devote himself to his agricultural business. However, he soon returned when he succeeded Monika Forstinger for twelve months as Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology and in the same year after Susanne Riess-Passer's resignation, he even became Federal Party Chairman of the FPÖ for a short time. Reichhold said openly at the special party conference of the FPÖ: "I'm here because Jörg Haider has decided not to run for party chairman." After 40 days he was replaced by Herbert Haupt , Mathias Reichhold retired in spring 2003 for health reasons Organic farm back.
