Eugene Margarétha
Eugen Margarétha (born July 6, 1885 in Perchtoldsdorf , Lower Austria ; † May 25, 1963 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer , politician ( ÖVP ) and President of the Austrian National Bank .
Eugen Margarétha studied law and then worked as a concept officer in the industrial employer organization. From 1918 to 1938 he was managing director of the Federation of Industrialists . After the Anschluss in 1938 he emigrated to Switzerland.
In 1945 after the end of the war he became in-house counsel for the Federal Chamber of Commerce and a member of the credit control commission. In the same year he was also elected to the National Council, where he held a seat as a member until 1952.
In 1949 he took over the office of Federal Minister of Finance . In 1952 he resigned both as a minister and as a member of parliament and took over the office of President of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank , which he held until 1960.
