Hans Schürff

Hans Schürff (born May 12, 1875 in Mödling , † March 27, 1939 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician.

After attending secondary school in Freistadt in Upper Austria and the commercial academy at the University of Vienna, Hans Schürff studied law. He also worked as a freight forwarder and authorized signatory in his father's company.

From 1911 he was a member of the Reichsrat . He was also deputy chairman of the Federation of Germans in Lower Austria.

After the First World War , he was a member of the provisional state assembly from 1918 to 1919, a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament until 1920 and in the constituent national assembly from 1919 to 1920.

With a short interruption he was a member of the Greater German People's Party (GdP) to the Austrian National Council from 1920 to 1934 . He was mayor of his hometown Mödling in 1929/1930 and 1932.

From 1923 to 1929 he was also Federal Minister for Trade and Transport and Minister of Justice from 1930 to 1931.

Hans Schürff died on March 27, 1939 in Vienna. He was buried in the family grave in Mödling. In his honor, the Dr.-Hans-Schürff-Gasse in Mödling was named.
