Rudolf Paltauf

Rudolf Maria Paltauf (born December 16, 1862 in Judenburg , † March 11, 1936 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician . He was Austrian Minister of Justice (1920–1922).

biography

Paltauf was born the son of a doctor and brother of the pathologist Richard Paltauf . Another brother was Arnold Paltauf (1860-1893), a professor of forensic medicine at the German University of Prague . Paltauf attended the 1st State High School in Graz , where he studied law after graduating . During his studies in 1880 he became a member of the Stiria Graz fraternity . In 1886 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . From 1884 he was a judge in Lower Styria and Carinthia , then a public prosecutor in Marburg and senior public prosecutor's deputy in Graz. He was appointed to the Ministry of Justice in 1909 as Sektionsrat, 1911 Ministerial and 1918 Section Chief . On November 20, 1920, the National Council elected him Minister of Justice. He held this office until May 31, 1922. After his resignation, he became President of the Higher Regional Court and President of the Upper Court of Appeal in Vienna. In 1927 he retired.
