Otto Mitterer

Otto Mitterer (born October 22, 1911 in Vienna ; † January 7, 1994 in Kitzbühel ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and businessman. From 1952 to 1953 and from 1956 to 1975 he was a member of the National Council , from 1954 to 1956 a member of the Federal Council and from 1968 to 1970 Federal Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry .

After elementary school, Mitterer attended high school and then graduated from a commercial academy . As a result, he took over his father's company, a watch wholesaler. He was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor.

Mitterer was chairman of the trade section of the Chamber of Commerce for Vienna and deputy chairman of the Austrian Economic Association of the Vienna regional group. He also acted as chairman of the economic policy committee of the Federal Chamber and was President of the Chamber of Commerce for Vienna from 1970 to 1975. He represented the ÖVP between April 1, 1952 and March 18, 1953 in the National Council and was then a member of the Federal Council from February 5, 1954 to June 8, 1956. He then moved back to the National Council, to which he was a member from June 8, 1956 to November 4, 1975. In addition, between January 19, 1968 and April 21, 1970, Mitterer was Federal Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry in the Federal Government of Klaus II .
