Elisabeth Udolf-Strobl (born April 12, 1956 in Wels , Upper Austria ) is a top Austrian civil servant. From June 3, 2019 to January 7, 2020 she was Federal Minister for Digitization and Business Location .

Life

Udolf-Strobl completed her interpreting studies in 1983 at the University of Vienna ( Mag. Phil. ). This was followed by postgraduate studies in international political and economic relations at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna from 1984 to 1986 . She entered the civil service in 1986. From 1991 she worked in the cabinet of Economics Minister Wolfgang Schüssel ( ÖVP ), whom she followed to the Foreign Ministry. In 1996 she returned to the Ministry of Economic Affairs as head of the cabinet of Johann Farnleitner (ÖVP). She was head of the section from 1999. From 2002 she was responsible for the administration of historical buildings owned by the Republic of Austria. This department is currently referred to as Section V Cultural Heritage in the Federal Ministry for Digitization and Business Location. Her area of ​​responsibility included the preservation and administration of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Austria, in particular historical buildings and monuments, including the Burghauptmannschaft , Tiergarten and Schönbrunn Palace , the Innsbruck Hofburg , the Marchfeldschlösser and the Hofmobiliendepot . Their mission included sustainable and value-preserving use. It represented the interests of the federal government in the companies Schönbrunn Palace and Schönbrunn Zoo.

From January 2001, Udolf-Strobl was a voting member of the Presidium of Österreich Werbung , and from 2018 she was a member of the Presidium of Austrian Standards International as a representative of the federal government .

On June 3, 2019, she was appointed Federal Minister for Digitization and Business Location in the Bierlein Federal Government .
