The Federal Government of Bierlein was the incumbent federal government of the Republic of Austria from June 3, 2019 to January 7, 2020 . As a civil servants' government , she continued the official business of the federal ministries until the Federal Government Short II was sworn in after the early National Council election in autumn 2019 . The Bierlein cabinet, which had been a transitional government until then , was often referred to as the expert government .

On May 27, 2019, the National Council, with the votes of the clubs of the SPÖ, FPÖ and NOW, expressed the distrust of the entire Federal Government Kurz I , which therefore had to be removed from office by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen . On May 28, he set up a provisional government with the provisional federal government of Löger . On May 30th, Van der Bellen commissioned Brigitte Bierlein , at that time the President of the Constitutional Court , to form a government.

The Federal Government Bierlein was appointed and sworn in by the Federal President on June 3, 2019 . Six female and six male federal ministers were represented in the government.

Chancellor Bierlein named Alexander Winterstein as government spokesperson on June 7, 2019 .

As a result of the early election of the National Council on September 29, 2019, the Bierlein government was first removed from office on October 1, 2019 by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, as is customary after a National Council election, and then requested to continue the official business until a new government was sworn in.
