The Tunguá í Borgarfirði rises west of the Kvígyndisfell (783 m) and flows into the Grímsá after around 20 km . Approximately in the middle it falls 8 m at Englandsfoss. At this height it can not be overcome by salmon .
The waterfall takes its name from the now abandoned farm England, after which other landforms are named here. Englandsfoss is only 100 m south of Uxahryggjavegur .
