The Austrian federal government Raab I was formed after the National Council election on February 22, 1953 . The ÖVP was no longer led by Leopold Figl , but by Julius Raab , from whom his party expected a more edgy policy. Federal President Theodor Körner appointed the first Raab government, again an ÖVP- SPÖ coalition, on April 2, 1953.

Figl returned to the government in the same year as Foreign Minister and signed the State Treaty for it on May 15, 1955 , which ended the occupation regime on July 27, 1955. After the withdrawal of all foreign troops, the Raab I cabinet presented the National Council with the draft of the Neutrality Act , which was passed as a constitutional law on October 26, 1955.

The government resigned on May 14, 1956, one day after the National Council election in 1956 , and was entrusted by the Federal President with the continuation of business until the formation of the next government, which ended on June 29, 1956.
