State government Renner II
The Renner II state government (March 15 - October 17, 1919) was the second government of German Austria, newly established after the First World War and the break-up of Austria-Hungary , and the first republican government elected by parliament after general elections .
Term of office
The second cabinet of the state government of Dr. Karl Renner , the "father of two republics", was elected by the Constituent National Assembly of German Austria on March 15, 1919 on the basis of the law on state government passed on March 14, 1919 (four under-secretaries were elected later). It was a coalition government of the Social Democrats and Christian Socials , which they elected with 99 out of 99 votes. (The Greater German MPs apparently had not cast any ballot papers.)
She followed the government Renner I that on 30 October 1918 by the Provisional National Assembly the Executive Committee called or State Council of proportional terms had been ordered and representatives comprised of all three political camps. This government resigned on March 3, 1919, but, at the request of the State Council, continued business until the election of the Renner II state government.
On October 17, 1919, the National Assembly ratified the Treaty of Saint-Germain , signed by Karl Renner with its authorization of September 6 , the peace treaty of the war victor with Austria. Immediately afterwards, the Renner II cabinet resigned in the parliamentary session. After an interruption of the session, the National Assembly elected the Renner III state government on the same day . From the same day on, the state of German Austria was designated the Republic of Austria in accordance with the treaty.
