Federal government of Ramek II

The Ramek II federal government was an Austrian federal government that was in office from January 15, 1926 to October 20, 1926. It was a coalition government of the Christian Social Party (CSP) with the Greater German People's Party (GDVP). The head of government was the Christian socialist Rudolf Ramek .

A financial affair about Foreign Minister Heinrich Mataja , serious allegations against Agriculture Minister Rudolf Buchinger that he did not adequately represent viticulture, which is in a serious crisis, in the trade treaty negotiations with Hungary , as well as the rejection of an economic program drawn up by Finance Minister Jakob Ahrer by the Federal Christian Social Party the voices for a reshuffle of the cabinet in December 1925 grow louder. On January 14, 1926, the federal government resigned Ramek I , and on January 15 the Ramek II cabinet was sworn in. The position of foreign minister was no longer filled; Chancellor Ramek took over the agendas himself and was supported by the section heads Franz Peter and Richard Schüller .

In the summer of 1926, Education Minister Emil Schneider tried to work out a new formulation of the school laws with the Viennese Social Democrat Otto Glöckel , but did not involve the coalition partner GDVP. After the agreement failed due to resistance from the GDVP and the Federal Chancellor, Schneider resigned. In the autumn of 1926, the CSP was undecided about excessive salary demands from the civil service, which made up a large part of the GDVP electorate. This made the government increasingly confused, which finally announced its resignation on October 15. She was still entrusted with the continuation of the business until October 20th.
