Alexis Kanner

Alexis Kanner (born May 2, 1942 in Bagnères-de-Luchon , † December 13, 2003 in London , England ) was a British actor .

Life

Kanner was born in occupied France . His family fled to Canada in April 1944 , where he grew up in Montreal . In the late 1950s he moved to England, where he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1961 . In the 1960s he was first seen in smaller film roles and guest roles in various British television series. In 1966 he had a recurring role as Detective Constable Matt Stone in Task Force Police . In 1967 he returned briefly to Montreal for the lead role in the Canadian feature film The Ernie Game . The following year he starred in two episodes of British series number 6 . This was followed by other feature film roles at the side of Roger Moore , Bette Davis and Michael Redgrave before he returned to Canada for another film project. At Mahoney's Estate he played alongside Sam Waterston and Maud Adams ; Ronnie Lane and Ron Wood contributed the soundtrack . As a co-screenwriter and under his own direction, Kanner produced the film Kings and Desperate Men in 1981 in collaboration with Patrick McGoohan . Kanner plays a terrorist who takes a radio talk show host, portrayed by McGoohan, hostage in order to spread a political message. He had his last feature film appearance in 1988 with David Birney in Black Nightfall , a science fiction film based on a short story by Isaac Asimov . In 1996, Kanner settled in London, where he died in 2003. Kaner's final resting place is the descendant of a Jewish family in the Mount of Olives Cemetery in Jerusalem.
