Wolfgang Peschorn (born May 17, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian civil servant and former politician . From June 3, 2019 to January 7, 2020, he was Federal Minister of the Interior in the Bierlein Federal Government . Since 2006 he has been President of the Financial Procuratorate, with interruptions for the duration of his work as Minister .

Life

Wolfgang Peschorn grew up in Graz and Vienna . After graduating from the GRG7 Kandlgasse , he studied law at the University of Vienna and trained as a clarinetist. He completed his law studies in 1988. In 2005 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the financial procurator for a doctor of law .

In 1991 he entered the legal service of the Financial Procuratorate . In 1995 he passed the bar exam and in 1997 the power of attorney examination. In 2006 he was appointed President of the Financial Procuratorate by Finance Minister Karl-Heinz Grasser .

On June 3, 2019, he was appointed Federal Minister of the Interior in the Bierlein Federal Government . On January 7, 2020, Karl Nehammer succeeded him as Minister of the Interior of the Federal Government Kurz II , and Peschorn was again head of the Financial Procuratorate.
