The future (SPÖ magazine)

The future is the theoretical and discussion body of the Austrian social democracy founded in 1946 . The magazine had the subtitle (later changed several times) “Socialist monthly for politics, economy, culture”. The future was started by Oscar Pollak as editor. It saw itself as the follow-up publication to the " Kampf ", which existed between 1907 and 1934 , when Otto Bauer and Karl Renner were founded . Well-known editors of the magazine were Karl Czernetz , Alfred Magaziner , Hubert Friesenbichler and Manfred Lang. The current editor-in-chief is Caspar Eine . Topics of Austrian domestic and foreign policy were discussed here as well as local political issues and international politics, economy and culture. The title varied slightly, it was initially Die Zukunft . Over time, other magazines with a similar focus were integrated into the future. In 1988, for example, the “cultural contacts” in the “future”, in 2004 the “social democratic accents”, the organ of the BSA . "Zukunft" is currently published eleven times a year. It is currently assigned to the Dr. Karl Renner Institute , the central educational institution of the SPÖ .
