Austrian Institute for International Politics

The Austrian Institute for International Politics - oiip is an independent, non-university, scientific research institution in Vienna . It is primarily active in the field of empirical research on current issues of foreign and security policy. It was founded in 1978 on the initiative of Bruno Kreisky . Since 1979, the institute has been conducting basic scientific research, foreign policy analysis and policy advice as a non-profit association.

The institute was initially located in Laxenburg , today it is in Vienna (Bergasse 7, Vienna- Alsergrund ).

Organizational form

The oiip is a non-profit association. The highest body is the board of directors. Saskia Stachowitsch has been the institute's scientific director since 2017 .

Publications

The oiip publishes policy papers and working papers on current political issues at irregular intervals. These can be viewed on the institute's homepage. In addition, the scientists publish their own works or are responsible for the publication of scientific publications. Articles by and interviews with researchers at the oiip appear regularly in daily newspapers, magazines and journals. These can also be found updated on the homepage. An activity report of the institute appears annually (also online) , in which the events, activities and publications of the employees or the institute are precisely recorded.
