from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A secret number refers to a large number of different numbers or access codes that are kept secret.

The term denotes u. a. a telephone number that has not been entered in the phone book and should therefore only be available to a limited group of participants.

Furthermore, a secret number is usually a sequence of digits with which one identifies oneself as a legitimate user for various “services”, such as bank accounts, check cards, locks with combinations of numbers or the like. Secret numbers can be found on a calling card or telephone card , for example . The number is usually covered with an opaque coating and must first be rubbed off in order to be read. After dialing in a toll-free number ( 0800 /…) you will be asked to enter the secret access code, followed by a dial tone and you can now dial the actual number .

Secret numbers are personal (person-related) information and are thus protected against unauthorized disclosure by third parties in most countries by personal rights.
