Flagellation Church
Flagellation Church , Church of the Flagellation of Christ or the Flagellation of the Lord [ Jesus ], Church of the Scourged Savior , etc. Ä., one calls churches and chapels that commemorate the scourging of Christ . They are special Passion churches , the day of remembrance is Good Friday (movable feast day, 1st Friday before Easter Sunday).
The main church is the small flagellation chapel on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem, which dates back to the 12th century (rebuilt in 1838/1929).
