While the touring enduro and enduro are mostly "normal" motorcycles suitable for everyday use and street legal, the motocross and trial machines can often also be approved, but are otherwise mostly pure competition machines.
Types and areas of application
A distinction is made between the following types for different areas of application:
- the travel enduro for long journeys away from public roads
- the enduro for enduro sports or as an agile “multi-purpose” motorcycle for the road
- the motocross for the motocross sport
- the trial for the motorcycle trial
- the ATV (All-Terrain-Vehicle) motorcycle for the toughest off-road use
