Scholarly Society of the Czech Republic

The Scholarly Society of the Czech Republic ( Učená společnost České republiky ) is a civic association whose members are made up of academics in the Czech Republic . Its aim is to support and disseminate science to the public. The company was founded on May 10, 1994 at the instigation of the chemist Otto Wichterle . The chairman is the immunologist Blanka Říhová .

The society refers to the tradition of other scientific institutions in the Czech Republic such as Societas incognitorum from 1746, the learned society from 1770, the Royal Bohemian Society of Sciences from 1784 or the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts from 1890.

The company has four sections for:

  • mathematical-physical sciences
  • chemical sciences
  • biological-medical sciences
  • social and humanitarian sciences
