The Gemeente vervoerbedrijf Utrecht (GVU) was the operator of the urban bus network in the Dutch city of Utrecht . After a public tender in 2013, the company was closed and the operation of the network was taken over by Qbuzz , under the name U-OV .
GVU had been a wholly owned subsidiary of Connexxion since January 1, 2007 and transport around 34 million passengers annually on 30 lines.
About 600 bus drivers drove the 200 or so buses. A total of around 800 people worked at GVU.
