The joint electronic surveillance center of the federal states (GÜL) is based in Weiterstadt, Hesse, in a high-security wing of the local prison .

task

It is the task of the GÜL to receive incoming event reports (e.g. about violations of instructions or impairment of data collection) around the clock within the scope of electronic residence monitoring (EAÜ, electronic foot shackles ) and to provide them with a view to any necessary measures for hazard prevention or management supervision evaluate.

history

In order to guarantee the technical supervision as a sovereign task , an interstate treaty was concluded, which came into force on January 1, 2012 and has as its object the establishment of a joint electronic surveillance office of the federal states (GÜL). All federal states have now acceded to this treaty.

From 2012 to 2017 GÜL was based at the IT department of the Hessian judiciary in the building of the former local court in Bad Vilbel .
