Gemmingensches Amtshaus in Aries

The Gemmingen administrative building is a former administrative building of the barons of Gemmingen in Widdern in the Heilbronn district .

history

The building was built in 1584, just ten years after the construction of the neighboring Gemmingen Castle . The barons of Gemmingen owned Ganerbe shares in Aries since the 15th century . The Bürg-Presteneck line of the barons of Gemmingen, who owned the property in Widdern, died out in the male line in 1841, and their property fell to Sigmund von Gemmingen-Hornberg zu Treschklingen and his sons. The heirs soon sold the property in Aries. In 1846 the municipality bought the office building and furnished it as a teacher's apartment. The schoolmaster Ludwig Jehle , who headed the elementary school in Widdern from 1939 to 1947, is one of the well-known residents .

description

The office building is a two-storey half - timbered building with a solid base , cantilevered floors and a gable roof that extends over two more floors . A round stair tower is built onto the western side of the eaves . The stone gate wall of the cellar neck next to it is marked 1584. The wedge stone of the door wall on the ground floor shows the Gemmingen coat of arms and the designation 1842.
