The Gemmingensche Castle rams , even lodge rams called, is a castle in rams in the district of Heilbronn in Baden-Wuerttemberg . The building, erected in the 16th century, was initially owned by the Barons of Gemmingen , from the 1860s it served as an inn and is now used as a residential building.

history

The half-timbered building with a solid base and round stair tower, dated 1574 above a cellar door , originally belonged to the von Gemmingen family , who, beginning with Konrad von Gemmingen († 1463), owned shares in Widdern. The building was built as a mansion with stone from the Ganerbeburg, which was destroyed in 1458. In 1584 the neighboring Gemmingen administrative building followed . The lane alongside the building was once called Schlossgasse and was only renamed Keltergasse in 1941 . The Bürg-Presteneck line of the barons of Gemmingen, who owned the property in Widdern, died out in the male line in 1841, and their property fell to Sigmund von Gemmingen-Hornberg zu Treschklingen and his sons. The heirs soon sold the property in Aries. First they sold the office building, which the community acquired in 1846 as a teacher's apartment. The castle was bought by the brewer and host Hofmann in 1863 for 5500 guilders, who set up a restaurant in it in 1864, which soon bore the name of the green tree . The Alfeld family bought the building in 1888. A brewery was operated in the house until 1903 . In 1930 the inn was equipped with guest rooms and a distillery as well as a bowling alley in the garden, which is well-frequented on weekends . The building served as an inn until 1991, most recently under the name Schloßgasthof . In the meantime it has been extensively renovated and is used for residential purposes.
