Assumstadt Castle (2006)

Castle Assumstadt is a baroque castle in Assumstadt , one to Möckmühler district Züttlingen counting living space in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle was built on the site of an older castle from 1769 under the direction of the Prague architect Paul Wiedhopf, possibly based on designs by his compatriot Johann Joseph Wirch , and is surrounded by a large park. The Assumstadt church, which was demolished in 1799, was located in the open space in front of the castle. The palace was a gift from the Empress Maria Theresa at their former general Feldzeugmeister Karl Reinhard von Ellrichshausen whose family since 1667, the local government had Assumstadt. Doors, stoves, windows and floors are partly copies from Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. The copies were made in Prague. The castle was sold by the descendants of Elrichhausen in 1937 to Hubert Graf zu Waldburg-Wolfegg , whose family still owns the property to this day.
