Karl Reinhard von Ellrichshausen

Baron Karl Reinhard von Ellrichshausen (also Carl) (born January 5, 1720 in Assumstadt , † June 9, 1779 in Prague ) was General Feldzeugmeister of Empress Maria Theresa .

He was born as the son of Freiherr Friedrich von Ellrichshausen and Freiin Juliane Magdalene von Neipperg . After completing high school in Stuttgart , he joined the ducal Württemberg regiment at the age of 16. In 1737 he fought against the Turks in Hungary under his uncle Wilhelm Reinhard von Neipperg . In 1740 his regiment entered the first Silesian War . There he was first adjutant to his uncle, then lieutenant, and after his first wounding, staff captain. In 1746 he fought as a grenadier in Italy and was critically wounded in Genoa and was given home leave. In June 1760, under General Laudon, at the Battle of Landeshut, he led one of the attack columns that pushed the Prussians down from the Buchberg. In 1763 he was promoted to Feldzeugmeister.

As a thank you for his services, Ellrichshausen received the reason for the new construction of Assumstadt Palace , which he began to tackle in 1769 and which is partly modeled on Schönbrunn Palace . After retiring from military service in 1779, he received the Commander's Cross of the Maria Theresa Order . Until his death he lived in Prague without children or celibacy.
