Leinburg

The Leinburg , also called Leinburg , Lüneburg or Luneburg , is an abandoned hilltop castle near Kleingartach , a district of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location

The Leinburg was located on the 307 meter high Leinberg northwest above Kleingartach in the northeast Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park .

history

The castle was built around 1200 as a mansion by the Ortadel lords of Leinburg of the same name , who presumably died out in the male line in the 16th century. Margrave Friedrich II of Baden pledged the town of Kleingartach with the Luneburg and half of its members in 1332 to Albrecht Bruzze, who gave his rights to the pledge in 1335 to Ulrich III. sold by Württemberg . The margrave of Baden then quickly released the pledge, but in 1337 pledged the castle again to Konrad von Enzberg called von Heinriet. The pledge came back to Württemberg from the von Enzberg family around 1360. Since 1442 the castle was considered to be in ruins.
