Zaberfeld Castle

Zaberfeld Castle , also known as the Sternenfels Renaissance Castle , is a castle in Zaberfeld in the Heilbronn district in Baden-Württemberg .

The Renaissance building with volute gable was built between 1587 and 1619, presumably on behalf of the Lords of Sternenfels , whose family coat of arms can be found in the main portal. In addition, the castle was the seat of Baron von Sternenfels until 1740. Inside there was a large ceiling painting, which showed Jupiter and Juno , and a wooden door dated 1519 , which was decorated with dolphin motifs, until the late 19th century . From 1740 the palace was the parish house of Zaberfeld. The parsonage also had a roughly half a hectare walled parish garden with a paved courtyard and several farm buildings. In 2000 the rectory was converted into eight apartments and a new parish center and rectory were built in the rectory garden.
