Heinsheim Castle is an 18th century castle in Heinsheim , a district of Bad Rappenau in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg .

history

The original manor in Heinsheim is Ehrenberg Castle , which is located outside the village, but was badly damaged in the Thirty Years War . At the same time, the local rule changed, as the lords of Ehrenberg died out in the male line in 1647. The following local lords moved their residence to the town and probably built a moated castle in its place, in the place of which the Barons von Racknitz, who came from Styria and who have since been raised as local lords, began building the current castle (also: Lower Castle ). In 1805 the Racknitz also acquired Ehrenberg Castle and half of the Zimmerhof from the Landgrave of Hesse . The palace was expanded by Baron Carl von Racknitz (1785–1868) from 1810 to include a park-like garden, and in the 20th century it was expanded into a hotel by Philipp von Racknitz. The outbuildings are used for various residential and commercial purposes. The palace complex also includes a baroque palace chapel from 1706, which today is mainly used for wedding services.
