The gender Library or Information and Documentation Center (I & D) of the Center for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies (ZtG) at the Humboldt University of Berlin is a one-person library organized (OPL) since 1990, according to the profile of a "specialist literature". The facility is designed as a reference library . The gender library sees itself as a library, archive and information and documentation center at the same time.

Collection focus

The library's special tasks and focus areas are:

  • Supply of the Gender Studies course at the Humboldt University in Berlin with literature
  • Literature on women and gender relations in the GDR and in the new federal states
  • Research reports and publications of the women's research funding program of the Berlin Senate

Duration

The collection includes a handset of about 12,000 monographs, anthologies, magazines and gray literature. It is searchable online with the VuFind-based database Gender Research DaTAbase (GReTA). Around 74,000 entries are recorded in this database (as of 07/2017).
