Generation '51

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Polish composer guard around Aleksander Lasoń , Eugeniusz Knapik and Andrzej Krzanowski is called Generation '51 (Polish: Pokolenie '51 ) . Together they made their compositional debut at the Młodzi Muzycy Młodemu Miastu music festival in Stalowa Wola .

With their works and in theoretical writings they turned against the avant-garde (in Poland at that time sonorism was dominant ) and gained prestige beyond their national borders. Krzanowski died at the age of 39; Lasoń and Knapik both teach in Katowice today .
